The Philadelphia Eagles placed quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve Saturday, ruling him out of their Nov. 8 game against the Giants.

A player placed on injured reserve must miss at least four games before he can return. The Eagles play four games from Sunday through Nov. 8: the Carolina Panthers at home Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys at home Oct. 26, the Washington Commanders on the road Nov. 1 and the Giants at home Nov. 8. Hurts is eligible to return Nov. 22 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, after the Eagles' Week 10 bye.

Hurts has a superficial blood clot in his calf. The Eagles said in an Oct. 15 statement that Hurts was cleated during their Oct. 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams. An ultrasound in London, where the Eagles played the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 11, found the clot. A follow-up ultrasound Oct. 14 showed the clot had moved, and the team was determining a course of treatment. The Eagles have not given a timetable for his return.

Backup quarterback Tanner McKee is set to start Sunday against the Panthers. The Eagles signed quarterback Joe Milton off the Cowboys' practice squad Friday and filled Hurts' roster spot Saturday by signing running back Jaydon Blue from their practice squad.

The Giants (3-1-1) lead the NFC East entering Sunday's games. The Eagles and Cowboys are 2-3, and the Commanders are 1-3-1.
