Rams' Nacua Trending Toward Out for Monday Night, Per Schefter
The Saturday injury report lists a hip injury; McVay's own words pointed to the groin. Two more Rams contributors are already down.
Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is trending toward missing Monday night's game against the Giants rather than playing through his injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday on "NFL Countdown." Underdog NFL relayed Schefter's exact wording on X: "Puka Nacua (hip) trending in 'wrong way' to play Week 2."
Nacua is listed as questionable on the Rams' and Giants' Saturday final injury report, which names his injury as a hip issue. He did not practice Friday or Saturday. Speaking to reporters Saturday, head coach Sean McVay described the injury differently: "He's got a little bit of soreness in that groin, being smart with him as a skill player," McVay said, according to SB Nation's John Newman. "Whether or not he plays is to be determined, and so we'll see how he's feeling."
Backup receiver Jordan Whittington is doubtful with a quadriceps injury. Safety Kamren Kinchens has already been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
No team has issued a final decision on Nacua. The Rams and Giants are scheduled to release inactives roughly 90 minutes before Monday night's kickoff at SoFi Stadium.
