Overview

Darnell Mooney signed with the Giants in free agency this offseason on a one-year deal worth up to $10 million, adding a veteran receiver to pair with Malik Nabers. The Bears drafted Mooney in the fifth round, 173rd overall, out of Tulane in 2020, where he caught 154 passes for 2,572 yards and 19 touchdowns over four seasons.

Mooney spent four seasons in Chicago, posting a career-best 81 catches for 1,055 yards and four touchdowns in 2021, before signing with Atlanta in 2024. Across his career, he has caught 309 passes for 4,028 yards and 17 touchdowns in 91 games. Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy coached Mooney in Chicago and pushed for the reunion.

Mooney caught an 18-yard pass on a second-quarter scoring drive in the Giants' 28-20 Week 1 win over Dallas. His role could grow if defenses focus coverage on Nabers, and the one-year deal makes 2026 an audition for his next contract.
