Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has a deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in both lungs, the Eagles and his agent, Nicole Lynn, said in a joint statement Monday. The statement set no date for his return.

Hurts was first diagnosed with a superficial clot in a vein in his left calf in London, where the Eagles played Oct. 11. Later tests found the deep vein clot and the clots in his lungs, known as bilateral pulmonary emboli.

He is clinically stable, and his only treatment is blood thinners. Football and other contact activity are off-limits while he is on them. The statement said he is expected to recover fully with no lasting effects.

The Eagles placed Hurts on injured reserve Saturday, which rules him out of their Nov. 8 game against the Giants. The four-game minimum makes Nov. 22 against Pittsburgh the earliest game he is eligible to return.

Philadelphia lost 25-14 at home to Carolina Sunday, its fourth straight defeat. The Giants (3-2-1) lead the NFC East; the Eagles and Cowboys are 2-4, and the Commanders are 1-3-1. The Giants and Eagles meet Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. ET in Philadelphia and again in Week 18 at MetLife Stadium, on a date not yet set.
