Overview
Cam Skattebo enters 2026 as the Giants' unquestioned starting running back, a year after a gruesome ankle injury ended his rookie season early. The Giants drafted Skattebo in the fourth round, 105th overall, in 2025 out of Arizona State, where he transferred after beginning his career at Sacramento State. He signed his rookie contract that June.
Skattebo produced immediately. Through his first eight games as a rookie, he rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns, added 24 catches for 207 yards and two receiving touchdowns, and emerged as the Giants' most dynamic offensive weapon behind Malik Nabers. A dislocated and fractured ankle in Week 8 ended his season.
He recovered in time for the 2026 opener against Dallas and heads into the year with no real competition for his job, only for backup carries. Skattebo is the Giants' every-down back in an offense now led by Jameis Winston after Jaxson Dart's season-ending knee injury.
