Francis "Sisi" Mauigoa played all 69 of the Giants' offensive snaps in his first NFL start Sunday night and did not allow a pressure, per Pro Football Focus' charting, which credits him with no sacks, hits or hurries on 34 pass-blocking snaps.
Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News posted Next Gen Stats data putting it at 36 pass blocks without a pressure, the most by a rookie in a Week 1 game since 2018. Watkins wrote that Mauigoa primarily matched up with Kenny Clark and was the first player since Week 16 of 2023 to hold Clark without a pressure over 19 or more matchups. Clark finished the game with two tackles, no sacks and no quarterback hits.
Mauigoa started at right guard, per the Giants' depth chart. The Giants drafted him 10th overall out of Miami.
Dallas had two sacks, one on a split rush by Donovan Ezeiruaku and Jonathan Bullard and one by safety Caleb Downs, who forced a fumble that Jon Runyan recovered, according to the play-by-play. The Giants ran 37 times for 165 yards.
Jermaine Eluemunor led the line in ESPN's run block win rate at 88.9%, ESPN's Jordan Raanan posted. Mauigoa was at 75%, third among the five linemen, one rep out of 36 behind Andrew Thomas and ahead of Runyan and John Michael Schmitz. Pro Football Focus graded his run blocking 44.5, the lowest of the five. Bob Folger's film review for Giants On SI credited him with "consistent drive-blocking prowess" and short pulls "executed with near-perfection and physicality."
"Mauigoa played well last night. Didn't look like his first NFL game," Geoff Schwartz, who played eight seasons on NFL offensive lines, posted with a clip of Mauigoa's tape. "He's quick and powerful."
The Giants play at the Rams on Monday, Sept. 21.
