Rams Place Myles Garrett on Injured Reserve
The move is now official, two days after coach Sean McVay said Monday that the edge rusher would need knee surgery and miss at least a month.
The Los Angeles Rams officially placed edge rusher Myles Garrett on injured reserve, Pro Football Talk's Myles Simmons reported Wednesday, citing a team announcement.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the same, according to ClutchPoints, which quoted him writing that the Rams "officially placed OLB Myles Garrett on injured reserve today" and that he is out a minimum of four games. Heavy.com additionally cited the team's own account on X, which listed the transaction as "Reserve/Injured OLB Myles Garrett."
Garrett will miss Weeks 2 through 5, including Monday night's game against the Giants, and is eligible to return as soon as Week 6, when the Rams host Arizona on Oct. 18, the team said when McVay confirmed the move Monday. He played 62% of the defensive snaps in the Rams' season-opening loss to San Francisco despite knee soreness that had limited him through much of training camp, and had arthroscopic surgery on the knee this week, according to the team's website.
The Rams have not yet decided whether Aaron Donald will play against the Giants, McVay said Monday.
