Giants' Jaxson Dart Out for Season, Rapoport and Garafolo Report
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo say the Giants quarterback's season is over and his ACL is intact, a day after ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the injury was worse than believed.
Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is out for the season and will have knee surgery, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Wednesday.
"Jaxson Dart is expected to have knee surgery that will lead to a full recovery but end his 2026 season, sources told me and @MikeGarafolo," Rapoport wrote on X. "Dart has been soliciting opinions on the injury. And the ACL is intact. But surgery is coming."
Garafolo, quoting Rapoport's post, called it "the expected outcome," writing that "the decision is made with his long-term health in mind."
Dart was hurt on the Giants' first drive of Monday night's 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams and did not return, GiantsGator has reported. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that further testing showed the injury was worse than initially believed and that Dart faced the possibility of season-ending surgery, a report independently corroborated hours later by Rapoport and Garafolo, GiantsGator reported at the time.
Giants coach John Harbaugh declined Tuesday to confirm specifics, saying evaluations were "ongoing" and that "we haven't got any final decisions yet," according to the team. The team had not issued a statement addressing Wednesday's reports as of this writing.
Jameis Winston finished Monday's game at quarterback and is expected to start Sunday against the Tennessee Titans at MetLife Stadium.
