Report: Giants Could Add Up to Two QBs as Soon as Monday; Garoppolo, Fields Among Options
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer named Justin Fields and free agent Jimmy Garoppolo as options and said the Giants are not pursuing Gardner Minshew II and have not called about Mac Jones, differing from an ESPN report Sunday.
The Giants want to add one quarterback and possibly two as soon as Monday, Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported Sunday. The team has not announced a move.
On "Fox NFL Sunday," Glazer said the Giants have been calling teams all week and "are actually going to be pretty aggressive." He named free agent Jimmy Garoppolo as an option and said Justin Fields is among the quarterbacks the team is considering. He said the Giants are "not going after" Gardner Minshew II, have not called about Mac Jones and will not turn to Joe Flacco.
Glazer's account differs from an ESPN report Sunday morning that listed Garoppolo, Minshew, J.J. McCarthy, Jones and Fields as possible additions. The two reports agree on Garoppolo and Fields and split on Minshew and Jones. Fox Sports' written account of Glazer's report does not mention McCarthy.
Fields is on Kansas City's active roster, Minshew on Arizona's, Jones on San Francisco's and McCarthy on Minnesota's.
Jameis Winston is making his first start of the season Sunday against the Tennessee Titans with Jaxson Dart on injured reserve. Winston and Jake Haener, signed from the practice squad Saturday, are the only quarterbacks on the Giants' active roster.
