Giants add cornerback Jaden Robinson to practice squad; Adebo out of Wednesday's session
Deonte Banks and Greg Newsome II left Sunday's win with injuries, and Paulson Adebo sat out Wednesday's walkthrough for reasons the team has not disclosed.
The Giants are signing cornerback Jaden Robinson to the practice squad, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, who reported the move Wednesday citing a league source. Robinson worked out for the team last week, Wilson reported.
Robinson, an undrafted rookie out of Oregon State, spent training camp with the Denver Broncos, who waived him Aug. 7 with an injury designation, the Colorado Springs Gazette reported. Mile High Report confirmed the move. Giants blog Big Blue Interactive reported Robinson has ties to Addison Lynch, the Giants' defensive backs coach, who reportedly coached him in Denver; that connection has not been independently confirmed by GiantsGator.
The signing follows two Week 1 injury exits and an unexplained absence at cornerback. Paulson Adebo did not work with the team during the open portion of Wednesday's session, a walkthrough the Giants used in place of a standard practice because of their Monday night game at the Rams, according to SI's Giants site. The team had not issued a practice designation for Adebo as of Wednesday evening, and the reason for his absence was not disclosed.
Deonte Banks cramped during Sunday's 28-20 win over Dallas and did not return, though the Giants defense did not take the field again. Greg Newsome II was evaluated for a concussion in the same game, passed testing and returned for the final drive. Giants coach John Harbaugh called the group's health "fine" afterward. Neither player has received a new update since.
