Overview

Deonte Banks started at cornerback in the Giants' 28-20 Week 1 win over Dallas, then missed the Week 2 loss to the Rams with a calf injury. The Giants drafted Banks 24th overall out of Maryland in 2023.

Banks recorded four tackles and two passes defensed against Dallas and also returned a kickoff, adding to a role that has grown given the state of the Giants' cornerback room: New York lost Paulson Adebo to injured reserve with a knee injury shortly after Week 1. In 2025, Banks recorded 31 tackles and five passes defensed across 16 games, including a 95-yard kickoff-return touchdown against Las Vegas.

Head coach John Harbaugh's staff gave Banks a clean slate entering 2026, a year the team views as pivotal for the fourth-year cornerback, after adding veteran competition in Greg Newsome II and depth in Andru Phillips and rookie Colton Hood.
