Overview
Greg Newsome II signed with the Giants on March 13, 2026, on a one-year deal worth roughly $8 million, a prove-it contract after Cleveland traded him to Jacksonville the previous October. He has started both of the Giants' games in 2026, playing through a rib injury in Week 2.
Cleveland drafted Newsome 26th overall in 2021, and he started 58 of 71 games there, recording 207 tackles, four interceptions and 43 passes defensed. He said at his signing that New York was "one of the most important teams" for him to join and that he hopes to retire a Giant.
Newsome started at outside cornerback in the Giants' Week 1 win over Dallas and was evaluated for a concussion during the game before returning. His health matters more than usual for a Giants cornerback room already missing Paulson Adebo, out for the season on injured reserve.
