Nikko Reed's Active-Roster Move Still Hasn't Landed on Giants.com's Own Pages
Giants.com's roster page lists Reed on the practice squad with 52 players on the active roster, and its transactions log doesn't specify a roster level for the move. ESPN, Over the Cap and Spotrac don't list Reed at all.
The Giants' active roster showed 52 players Saturday, one shy of the NFL's 53-man limit, and cornerback Nikko Reed was not among them — a day after Giants.com itself reported he had signed "to the active roster."
Giants.com's Dan Salomone reported Friday that the Giants placed cornerback Paulson Adebo on injured reserve and "signed Nikko Reed, another cornerback, to the active roster from the Chargers' practice squad." Giants.com's own players-roster page, checked Saturday, lists Reed under the practice squad, not the active roster, and counts 52 players on the active roster — the same total the site would show if Reed had not been added at all.
The team's transactions log records both moves under Friday's date: "CB Nikko Reed - Free Agent Signing (from LAC PS)" and "CB Paulson Adebo - Reserve/Injured." Neither entry specifies a roster level, and the "Free Agent Signing" label isn't unique to active-roster moves — Giants.com used the same phrasing for defensive lineman Josh Tupou's Sept. 16 signing from the practice squad, and Tupou is on the active roster today. The transactions log alone doesn't confirm which roster tier Reed occupies.
Adebo's IR placement is reflected on the roster page: Adebo appears under "Reserve/Injured." Reed's move to the active roster has not separately processed: the roster page still lists him with the practice squad.
External trackers offer no resolution. ESPN's Giants roster page, checked Saturday, does not list Reed under any position group, injured reserve or practice squad. Over the Cap's and Spotrac's Giants pages also list no Reed, on the active roster, injured reserve or practice squad. Both sites still count Adebo on their active-roster lists rather than injured reserve, a separate lag on those two trackers unrelated to the Reed signing.
No beat reporter had flagged the active-roster discrepancy specifically as of Saturday. The Athletic's Dan Duggan and ESPN's Jordan Raanan, who both covered the Adebo-Reed moves this week, posted nothing about it in their most recent updates, which addressed Friday's injury report. What is behind the lag — a pending corresponding move, a processing delay or something else — has not been reported by the team or any outlet.
