Harbaugh: Giants Will Add a Quarterback, Won't Rule Out a Dart Playoff Return

John Harbaugh said Wednesday the Giants plan to add a quarterback, calling a trade an option as they navigate Jaxson Dart's season-ending knee injury.

“We will plan on doing that, absolutely,” Harbaugh said, according to a transcript posted on giants.com. “I can’t say who at this point, but we’re working on that.” Asked whether a trade was possible, Harbaugh said, “I think all options are open. Yeah, all options are open right now.”

SNY's John Flanigan first reported the comments Wednesday night. ESPN's Jordan Raanan also reported them, adding that Jameis Winston remains the starter.

Harbaugh also declined to rule out Dart returning this season if the Giants make the playoffs. Dart is out “regular season at least,” Harbaugh said, adding there’s “no way to know” beyond that because it depends on his recovery.

Harbaugh named no target for the quarterback addition and gave no timeline.

Dart was ruled out for the season this week and is set for knee surgery. Winston has taken over as the Giants' starter.
