Rookie cornerback Colton Hood said he is ready for an expanded role Monday night after the Giants placed Paulson Adebo on injured reserve and Deonte Banks trended toward missing the game with a calf injury.

“For sure, yeah,” Hood told the New York Post's Jared Schwartz when asked if he expects his opportunity to come this week. “They've prepared me well. I've been ready, just waiting on my opportunity, going out there and making the most of it.”

The Giants placed Adebo (knee) on injured reserve Friday, according to Giants.com. He is expected to miss at least four games. Banks, who started over Adebo in Week 1, did not practice Friday after being limited Thursday with a calf injury, per the team's injury report; head coach John Harbaugh called him day-to-day.

Hood, a second-round pick (37th overall) out of Tennessee who wears No. 12, played six defensive snaps and 12 special-teams snaps in the Giants' Week 1 win over the Cowboys, the Post reported. He is now in position to start opposite Greg Newsome II and Dru Phillips, or see heavy rotational snaps, against a Rams receiving corps led by Davante Adams and Puka Nacua on Monday Night Football at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

“They're both great players,” Hood told the Post. “We treat 'em like nameless, faceless opponents. I'm looking into 'em and watching the film and stuff but I'm just trusting my technique when I go out there. ... I'm extremely excited. I get to go out there and play on Monday Night Football.”
