The Giants came back from 14 down in the fourth quarter and tied the Washington Commanders 27-27 in overtime Sunday when Tremaine Edmunds sacked Jayden Daniels on the final snap and Washington, out of timeouts, never got a field-goal try off.

Jameis Winston threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Likely with 44 seconds left in the third quarter. Washington led 27-13 after Daniels' 26-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion pass with 11:05 left. On fourth-and-8 from the Washington 17, Likely was ruled to have fumbled through the end zone; replay reversed the call to a 17-yard touchdown with 7:20 left. Malik Nabers caught a 17-yard touchdown pass with 1:43 left to tie it.

On the Giants' first overtime possession, Dominic Zvada missed a 46-yard field goal wide left. Abdul Carter forced a fumble that Washington recovered before punting. Daron Payne then stripped Cam Skattebo at the Washington 24 with 2:00 left. Daniels drove Washington to the Giants 24, but after a 2-yard run with 55 seconds left, the Commanders, out of timeouts, did not snap again until 12 seconds remained. Edmunds sacked Daniels on second-and-8 for no gain, and time expired.

Winston completed 33 of 54 passes for 326 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, and lost a fumble. Nabers caught 11 passes for 121 yards; Likely caught 11 for 94 and two touchdowns. Zvada made field goals of 51 and 56 yards and missed from 50, 57 and 46. Dru Phillips had two of the Giants' five sacks; Carter, Arvell Reese and Edmunds had one each.

Right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor (calf), cornerback Colton Hood (concussion) and safety Tyler Nubin (neck) were injured in the game. Jake Haener was inactive as the emergency third quarterback.

The Giants (3-1-1) lead the NFC East. Their previous two ties were also against Washington: 20-20 on Dec. 4, 2022, and 7-7 on Nov. 23, 1997.

Coach John Harbaugh said in his postgame news conference that the tie was "a heck of a lot better than a loss, but it's not as good as a win." He added: "We should never be down 14."

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said the result "feels like a loss" and took the blame for the final sequence in postgame comments the team posted.

The Giants host the New Orleans Saints (1-4) in Week 6.
