Giants Put Tremaine Edmunds on Injured Reserve
Edmunds must miss at least four games and cannot play before Nov. 29 at Indianapolis. The team listed a shoulder injury and has not given a timeline. Micah McFadden played every defensive snap at Houston.
The Giants placed linebacker Tremaine Edmunds on injured reserve Oct. 24, the day before their 27-21 overtime win at Houston. He must miss at least four games and cannot play again before the Nov. 29 game at Indianapolis.
The four-game minimum counts games, not weeks, so the Week 8 bye does not count toward it. The Houston game was the first of the four. The others are Nov. 8 at Philadelphia, Nov. 12 against Washington and Nov. 22 against Jacksonville.
Edmunds was listed with a shoulder injury on the Giants' Week 7 injury report. He did not practice and was ruled out Oct. 23. The team has not given a timeline for his return.
Linebacker Micah McFadden played all 61 defensive snaps at Houston beside Arvell Reese. McFadden had played two defensive snaps in the first six games. Edmunds played every defensive snap in those six games.
Coach John Harbaugh said at his postgame news conference that Edmunds had been "trying to find a way to basically not listen to the doctors and continue to play." Edmunds traveled with the team to Houston, Harbaugh said.
On Oct. 24, the Giants also activated cornerback Paulson Adebo from injured reserve and elevated wide receiver Jalin Hyatt and safety Raheem Layne from the practice squad. Adebo played all 61 defensive snaps.
This report was published Thursday, Oct. 29. The Giants made the move Oct. 24.
