Harbaugh Ties Zvada's Misses to Plant Foot, Says McCarthy Package Probably Has More

The Giants coach said Wednesday that Abdul Carter, who missed practice with a calf injury, was "doing very well." Both starting tackles also sat out; Harbaugh did not address Andrew Thomas, Jermaine Eluemunor or an injured reserve move.

Giants coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that kicker Dominic Zvada's three missed field goals in Sunday's 27-27 tie at Washington "had to do with his plant foot." Zvada missed from 50, 57 and 46 yards; the 46-yarder came in overtime.

Harbaugh said Chris Horton, the assistant head coach and special teams coordinator, does most of the kicker coaching. He did not say who would kick Sunday, and the team's transaction tracker shows no kicker move this week.

Harbaugh called the package the Giants have used for quarterback J.J. McCarthy a change of pace and said what fans have seen is probably not everything the team has for him.

He said outside linebacker Abdul Carter was "doing very well" and that his status would come out with the 4 p.m. injury report. That report listed Carter (calf) as not practicing, along with both starting tackles, Andrew Thomas (groin) and Jermaine Eluemunor (calf), cornerback Colton Hood (concussion) and safety Tyler Nubin (neck). All five missed practice again Thursday.

The transcript of Harbaugh's session has no exchange naming Thomas, Eluemunor, Hood or Nubin, an injured reserve move, Sunday's backup quarterback or Jaxson Dart's practice window. Asked about the two young tackles behind the starters, he said both are good players trying to prove themselves in the league. The tracker shows no injured reserve move for any of the injured players.
