The Giants signed cornerback Nikko Reed to the active roster off the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad Thursday night, the second cornerback move for New York in two days ahead of Monday night's game at the Rams.
The signing followed the Giants' Thursday injury report, which listed cornerback Paulson Adebo (knee) as a non-participant and cornerbacks Deonte Banks (calf) and Greg Newsome II (rib) as limited participants, according to the team's official report. Tackle Andrew Thomas (ankle), offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa (shoulder), defensive lineman Chauncey Golston (neck) and linebacker Micah McFadden (neck) were also listed as limited.
Reed, 23, signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon in 2025 and made their initial 53-man roster as a rookie, according to Big Blue Interactive. He played five games as a rookie, recording two tackles and a pass breakup, before finishing the season on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, according to Sports Illustrated. He did not make the Chargers' roster out of this year's training camp and was on their practice squad when the Giants signed him.
Sports Illustrated reported the Giants completed the signing after the league's daily transaction deadline Thursday, and that no corresponding roster move had been made as of that report. Which player, if any, the Giants will release or waive to open a 53-man spot for Reed had not been announced.
The Giants signed cornerback Jaden Robinson to the practice squad Wednesday — the day Adebo sat out a walkthrough for reasons the team did not disclose at the time.
The Giants play at the Rams on Monday night.
